Ok got a question for all you 89ers

Post by Wa'ya » Sun Apr 20, 2014 2:42 am

I know the forum states 2009 and beyond, but according to realoem.com there was an E89 offered in Europe in 2008 with the N52 engine and it was a 3.0i. What I'm looking for is someone who has this setup that could take and offer some photographs of the intake suction hood, air box, framework of the area, and exterior bonnet of the 2008 E89 so that I could compare it with the E85 setup.

The E89 BMW OEM air suction hood s the best idea I've seen for RamAir and if can figure out a way to use it on my E85, man that would be so cool!

What I'm thinking about is using OEM parts from different years/models to build the best performance I can. I know I'm not the first, but researching the 3.0i vrs 3.0si there's not a lot of differences, Intake's and sound modules I about it, so I want to incorporate the E89 Ramair suction hood into the mix and see where we go from there.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from some of you!

Good luck with that as all E89s are classed in the UK at least as MY09. As for the exterior bonnet if said car does exist it will be the same as all the other bonnets on the E89. Somehow I think you maybe looking for a non existent needle in a haystack. Baring in mind RealOEM is a site provided by a third party I believe, it could be and it suspect that the was never built or of it was it was a test car of some sort.

I've had a look myself and they have production on left hand drive only from 01/2008 but they also show USA with N52n also from 01/2008. I don't think your going to find that either, I believe that this may be incorrect data that's available.

Deliveries for the E89 in Europe were from May 2009 onwards. Nothing in 2008

Thanks for the answer Angie, yeah I guess it could be a misprint or bad info. I guess I could just order one of the suction hoods and see how it fits their not too expensive and if it does fit under the bonnet get the more expensive other parts. Was just hoping to get a look to compare before trying that.

You need to remember that the E89 is longer than the E85 so it will be designed to fit differently due to the extra space. Someone must have a 2009 E89 engine bay picture
