Hello, new member to the forum. After months of dithering between a z4 and slk, finally but my order in for the z4. Drive both, came out preferring the zed. Going for a 2.0 msport, alpine white and coral red. Added a few options - folding mirrors, pdc, windshield, 19" wheels, heated seats, brushed aluminium and service inclusive. Should be getting it in June. Can't wait.

Hi and welcome, sounds like a nice zed you have ordered and just in time for the summer  :driving:

Just the wait till you pick it up that's going to be the killer.

Congrats on the car, I ordered an identical spec z4 a couple of weeks ago but the 18i... cant wait for June :D

The car I had for the test was 1.8 manual, also drove an older 3.0 auto and an slk 250 auto. The 1.8 manual was the most fun, maybe because I'm a manual afficianado. Feels quite rapid for a car with 154 bhp.

Z4 is definitely the better choice, I thought about the slk but it just seemed a bit girly.

Glad to hear the 18i was a good drive, believe it or not I bought it without test driving it haha. Driven the 20i and loved it but couldnt get insurance on it so opted for the 18i without even testing it.

The wait is so painful, but it'll be worth it once it arrives

Insurance for me was £197 on the the 2.0. Unbelievable it was so cheap. Slk for me didn't look as good in profile as the zed. One thing you can't seein photos is the wider rear track of the slk, it does look better from the rear. There's just something about it where it looks too big for its size. The sls style front looks aggressive from the front but doesn't really match up to the rest. Driving them is a world of difference. The auto gearbox on the slk is unbelievably slow, sport mode doesn't make much difference. Worst thing is the steering, there's a huge deadspot in it which is quite noticeable and annoying. The only significant difference is the quality of the interior. Slk is much better and that was my biggest disappoint with the zed.

I drove two z4s a 20 and a 28, a tts and an slk Cdi all auto. Both zeds were the most fun. The slk didn't really inspire any confidence when driving quickly the tts while a nice car was let down by the fact the interia and toys were 8 years old plus it was unfortable after an hour, the 20 put a big smile on my face but lacked a special something that tts had, power! The 28 was spot on. Can't wait to get it any day now......

Solid White, 20i auto, heated electric memory seats, PDC, wind deflector and heated sterring wheel........Time goes by so slowly

Welcome!
I went to test drive the 20i and the 28i. Tried the 28i first and then just bought it on the spot. No point testing the 20i after that.....the drop in power was something I could not have coped with.

I also have a metallic Mineral White one with Coral Red Leather and 19's. They look great in the flesh!!

Awesome motorway cruiser as well.

197 for insurance! Wow thats cheap. I was getting refused or ridiculous quotes on the 20i so the 18i was my only choice. Insurance is just under a grand (im 23).

I opted for the sdrive18i m sport, manual, solid white with red leather interior, heated seats, 19inch wheel upgrade and comfort pack (foldong mirrors, extra storage, additional lighting, cruise control with brake option and parking sensors).

£197 was with esure. I was expecting about £300 to be the lowest. Strangely the insurance on my old battered worthless estate car I use for my dogs is more. I did consider the comfort pack, but in the end just got the three options I needed and put the difference into the service inclusive package.
