Terrible Insurance Renewal 35is...

So last year I insured my 35is for around £1200.
I added a couple of mods at £20 a time during the course of the year.

My policy has just come back to me at £1900 a month before renewal!

These were usually the company that was cheapest for me, not to sure what to do at this point or why it has even increased? Is it even worth calling or will they tell me to bugger off.

Im 23 y/o which makes insurance a tad difficult!

Thanks

every year, 99% of insurers will increase the premium on renewal in the hope that you will simply accept it and allow it to automatically renew, there is no benefit of staying with the same insurer.

get your NCB proof and go on comparison sites, call specialists and you'll get a better quote.

shop around and never stick with the same insurer.

Add parents to your policy, my son has the M140 (new) and that was less than £800 to insure. He is 23 as well.

I had similar when I had my Z4M at 23. The renewals were always more expensive but then compared and called and they usually matched. Think I paid about £750 at that age on the M but i lived in a band A area.

+1 PVR

Ive done a coupe of insurance quotes on a 35IS with 10k social domestic pleasure and commuting and living near the centre of manchester which is probably one of the worst places to get insured. Granted im 29 but the quotes were about £900 putting the rents on put it well below £600

So annoying back up in Cumbria the quotes were £150-200 :headbang: :headbang:

As already stated, shop around, even get an on line quote from the company you are with if you can, they are often cheaper than renewal and then when you call in they will match the price - also dont forget Quidco or other cashback sites, usually good deals on insurance. Alternatively you can have my insurance which is about £350/year for my 35iS but only if you let me transfer my age to you and vice versa :D

Car insurance has become a joke IMHO - you just need to get onto a comparison site every renewal and you are sure to get a better deal (sometimes even from the same insurer)!

Good luck.

Thanks for the input everyone,

So I have run through 3 comparison sites and the cheapest I have come accross with out even declaring my mods is £1600 which is not looking good.

Going to ring my insurer tommorow, and if they dont budge I will have to call around a few other companies.

Does anyone know of any specialists?

Thanks
