Handbrake release

Post by Kugaman1 » Mon Oct 23, 2017 11:57 am

My previous 2009 z4 23i had a software upgrade to the handbrake following a fault (mentioned by others on here).
I noticed that when you release the handbrake, it held the brake for a second or two l, allowing a smooth pull away on hills etc.

However, my 2013 LCI 2.0 z4 doesn’t hold at all, as soon as you release the handbrake, it’s off.

Anyone else find similar?

I’m not sure if the handbrake hold was removed on the lci cars or added to the none lci when the software update was applied?

Off the top of my head I cant think if ours does this with the e-brake, only use this when its parked, but it does hold for a second or two if using the normal foot brake.
Ours is a 2010.

It’s a shame they removed it... it’s really handy on hills!

The 2.0 range were first advertised with the handbrake hillstart assist function, then when it was bought to Bmw’s attention it was quickly scrubbed from the blurb  no great loss, just use the clutch when releasing the ebrake like in the good old days :)
