Has anyone ever used Warranty Direct for their car??

Considering Warranty Direct to cover my 2009 23i.
Has anyone used this provider??

Yup, aftermarket warranties are generally worth less than the paper they are written on, just full of wriggle out clauses..

Had them with my e46 few years ago-booklet stated rear bushes covered, but when mine went and my indy rang them they told him they were not covered because he said lower rear bushes to them over the phone-the lower part was not stated in the booklet-so they declined the repair-last time I used them.

just needs a full service history(not so much all bmw but stamped at the right time with the right bits)

They were useless on my E53. My glow plug control box went and they did not cover diagnostics (required for a BMW repair), they did not cover the removal of the manifold to get to the box. So from a £600 repair, they only paid something like £200.

I've had no complaints over the years on my vans.

Injectors, cylinder head, flywheel, external temperature sensor, shocks, brake cylinder, glow plugs, hazard light switch, starter motor, alternator. Oil pump.
I think that's it ! Bloody French vans !

When my Vw policy on my family car runs out I'll be getting a wd policy on that too.

Spent three months arguing with WD when my steering column demonstrated sticky steering. Eventually they agreed to fund the replacement (minus their "wear and tear" excesses). I had to pay the full amount up front (was close on £3k) then claim their part back - took another month for them to pay up. Would steer clear

Now have a rainy day fund for anything with any of our cars. Agree with above - manufacturer warranty or start saving.

I put a policy on my 35i, 2009 car with 56k miles on it (cost around £540 with a £100 excess), within ten weeks the steering rack failed, all in around £3k repair which cost me £100 plus the policy cost so well worth buying. I went through the process of checking warranty direct and warranty wise for my Merc which is coming up to three years old, both were expensive and both had too many get outs for my liking..Merc wanted £2k/year so the car has been replaced with a 5 series as I need to know the medium term costs will be well controlled i.e. in 12 months a warranty on the BM will be around £500..god knows on the Merc.

doesn't have to be all BMW. It can be specialist etc as long as it has been done on TIME and correctly.

Another no - don't bother - from me.

My experience of an aftermarket warranty was a few years ago on an 18 month old Harley. A nasty ticking from the engine had it booked in to the dealer for investigation and fixing: the extended warranty company weren't interested.

First off they didn't like the dealer's hourly rate and said anyway it hasn't failed.

"But a fix now might save thousands later for a wrecked engine". "Don't care, we will cover "catastrophic failure" and that's it".

The dealer service manager was excellent and got a bit inventive over the phone with them. Finished up with a top end strip down and replaced a small end bearing. I footed the bill for the difference in the hourly rate but I was determined to see the warranty insurance company shell out. It had become personal.

But from what I see and hear a BMW warranty is a very different matter, and I'll be heading that way when my car is 3 years old at the end of this year.
