Hi, I have been searching the forums and have not found the answer yet. I have a 2011 e89 Z4 with the Professional radio (no nav) with the 6 speaker system. When fading to the rear shoulder speakers the sound is terrible, has anyone tried changing these speakers, if so, what with and is it easy to do?
Thanks in advance

While the speakers are cheap, the issue is not entirely their fault, there is a crossover built into the head unit that sends a different signal to these speakers. To upgrade the sound, you'd need to add a new AMP and Speakers and take a direct line out from the head unit (or get a new head unit).

I have tried it ...
Changing the shoulders speakers (mids) alone, won't make any difference even if you go for top of the range speakers.
As mentioned before, you will need to deal with the signal and the only way to do it without changing the HU is to add an AMP, a DSP one preferably and in this case you might as well change the other speakers.
If I was you, instead of changing the shoulder speakers, I would add some decent tweeters - they will make some difference to your sound quality
Hope this helps.
