Apparently 18 months driving an owning a 2006 MR2 Roadster doesn't count as RWD experience?

It needs to be recent experience, when did you get rid of the MR2? If you can PM me your real name and postcode I can take a look at what happened.

best,
Nick

I was told it had to be "powerful RWD" experience? I've had an mk1 MX5 for 5 years (still got it!) and that wasn't acceptable.

The insurer above. Worst customer service I've ever experienced, aside from the aforementioned RWD experience.
Refused to quote me at all. 10 years driving experience.

I was refused a quote by them when I got the M. I was told I had insufficient experience with powerful RWD cars after only 5 years with a 300 BHP RWD 350Z.

Their loss. I've never bothered to call them back after becoming "experienced" , well, assuming i have sufficient experience now! :)

I wonder if they would quote me then with 17 continuous years of rear wheel drive.

I looked at a quote from the above, the only thing they didn't ask was for the kitchen sink? Went elsewhere and paid a lot less. Both in time ( filling out their questions) and finance..

I've been asked similar questions when getting track day insurance. Never for road insurance though. :?

Oh oopsie :)

Tbf the specialist insurer for my Westy didn't seem to mind either. Hopefully something can be sorted.

Guys, the insurers on our panel have set access criteria to protect the scheme. It makes sense to require 12 months experience of the car or one of similar performance - it stops us attracting a policyholder who's going from, say, a Fiesta 1.1 to a Z4 and wraps it straight round a tree (or worse). By protecting the scheme in this way we can continue to offer the rates to the majority who already have their experience sorted.
