So I went out to adjust the handbrake today
Ended up with this!,
To much rust on the rear quarters and the wings are starting to go the same way.
Time for the media blaster so to do there stuff and a full respray.
Surprised at how easy it was to strip down, took about 6 hours total and only broke 2 bolts!
Very well put together and easy to strip.

I'd have loved a red Coupe, but they are very rare. You were lucky to find one OP.
Not so lucky with the corrosion though.
But at least with what you have planned it shouldn't come back!

Bloody hell What did you do? Pull the handbreak and the wings flew off
You were only supposed to pull the bloody handbreak on (that was said in by very best Michael Caine voice)

Seaside car I think, Kermits old car so he lived by the sea and the guy he sold it to ..also lived near the sea.
I did price up replacements from BMW but at £515 a side I thought I'd blast n spray the originals.
My mate came round today n near died! Couldn't believe what I'd done
I love the car so I'll get it perfect and enjoy it, done a few track days and embarrassed a few 400+bhp car in the twisty bits it's so well balanced

Tell me about it, surprisingly the factory under seal is pretty poor in the corners of the rear quarters.MACK wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2017 9:57 pmI'm never going near the seaside again in mine in that case. So I think its 1 of the reasons it's really bad there.
Hopefully the passenger side will be saveable as its the worst

I've got a 56 plate coupe and its going in for rust on tailgate either repair or possible replacement at Coopers BMW in Chelmsford, free under the 12 year corrosion warranty. Think you need fsh and that the rust is not in a place where there's been a previous repair or repaint. Even giving me a courtesy car.....Ford Fiesta
