Car keyed by some crazy witch.
So earlier this week car was keyed whilst parallel parked. Just locked up and walked a few meters down, then took a customary last-glance back at the Zed (as you do). Saw a woman particularly close and then looked like she was pretending to use the car for support whilst walking. She continued to "fake" this excuse on the next few cars. Obviously I walked back. 3 deep scratches on rear panel, door, and front wing. I went into kick-arse mode. To cut a long story short, confronted the witch, didn't get anywhere, then called cops. When they finished questioning her we were taking a look at the damage and she done 3 or 4 other cars as well. WTF?!
Okay so damage done, and I can't physically punish her for her crimes (oh I'd very much like to!!). Cops said I can claim under vandalism on insurance. They sending me a crime ref. so will support my claim. My question is, will it be classed as a claim? I've not had an accident so it shouldn't increase my premiums? Or will it? I'm trying to find my paperwork, but can't find whether it will cost me my excess? Or whether its completely covered and at no cost to me?
Any help and past experience (as painful as it might be) much appreciated

Sorry to hear this Kis, i dont know if you saw, but a simmlar thing happened to my Z4 happened a couple of weeks ago.
It will definatley be classed as a claim as you are 'claiming' money to repair your damaged motor.
long story short, if its worth your excess + the additional premium for the next 3 years, over the cost of the repair from a decent bodyshop then it might be worth 'claiming' otherwise, just get the best quote you can & take it on the chin im afraid
I managed to wet-sand a lot of the scratches out of my car, but still looks a bit rough up close. Ive decided to just live with it as money is needed elsewhere at the moment.

Hard to see as it's sliver on silver... no chance of polishing it out. Too deep. May go down the car wrap route if/when funds permit.

VINCENT: You know what some f***er did to it the other day?
LANCE: What?
VINCENT: Fuckin' keyed it.
LANCE: Oh man, that's f***ed up.
VINCENT: Tell me about it. I had the goddamn thing in storage three years. It's out five fuckin' days -- five days, and some dickless piece of s**t f***s with it.
LANCE: They should be fuckin' killed. No trial, no jury, straight to execution.

Relax. Send some pics to chipsaway and they will quote you a repair. They did a great job on my back wing. Repair is invisible. What you usually find is once they remove the lacquer there is very little damage underneath. Took 3 hours to do my wing and cost £168.

with respect thats one wing. this is 3 panels, silver being notoriously the most difficult colour to blend. based on your repair cost its still looking like the thick end of 500 quid. Might be worth going through insurance after all.raymond.harper wrote:Relax. Send some pics to chipsaway and they will quote you a repair. They did a great job on my back wing. Repair is invisible. Cant quite tell from the pics how deep those scratches are but you might have some joy with a detailer wet sanding them & buffing them out.

This happened to my DD a couple of years ago except no one caught, I decided to take it on the chin and pay the £400 not going through insurance which I think would have been £200 excess and a load of hassle.

depends of course if theyre not too deep, if it went to primer you'll be doomed! but worth a shot.
