To answer a few questions:

@Tom - thanks :) Looks like kis has answered your question

@kis - cheers :) If I ever have spare £275, which is looking very unlikely for the foreseeable future, I would be booking one of Ducklakeview's back box mods: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=89154
I've been following his thread and reading all the excellent feedback, so that would be my next 'wish list' mod (btw I only posted the thread on Saturday (11 Feb) so not surprising you haven't seen it before  )

@genius85 - true, I should add it to the list I guess. As for the spacing I'm currently on legal spacing on rear plate and 'naughty' spacing on front. Sort of a woolly compromise - I just felt it was pushing it for getting unwanted attention particularly when being followed by traffic police, which seems to happen a lot
Getting followed alot by the Police! I know you like red but you might want to stay out of that Red Light District! :poke:
:D Its happened twice recently (not the red light district ) - both occasions just coincidence, I wasn't actually being 'followed', but I was sweating nevertheless over the spacing and even though I didn't get pulled the anxiety prompted me to go back to standard :)

For those who don't know what we're on about :

Naughty spacing front:

I wonder if they first went past the front of you then doubled back to follow you only to say to themselves somewhat confused "I could have swore that car had dodgy plates. I must be seeing things!"

To be fair I don't see the harm, yes its not strictly legal but you can still read the reg number at the same distance/angle as a plate with normal spacing etc. Its not like its one of those different fonts/sizes you used to see 10-15 years ago, which half the time you had to be right on top of the car to have any chance of reading.

On the current "car ads...." thread lordgrover put a link to his GT86 which is for sale which has an underside front plate. I asked if it had ever caused him any issues to which he replied he used them on a number of cars over the years without a problem. Bearing that in mind and given yours is legal size and easy to read I think you will be fine and should keep it. Unless of course you run into a particular A Hole copper having a bad day!

Hi Marlon
I just bought cruise control stalk and wiring loom, and will get someone else to fit as it's beyond my car electrics knowledge! Did yours require coding or did it work straight off? Cheers

No coding required, I had it done at a indy BMW specialist who asked me several times if it needed coding before he took the job on. It didn't

Thought I'd update My Zed Thread.

I have done the last Mod on my list - the DLV back box modification
(DLV's thread here for those who are unaware of it viewtopic.php?f=2&t=89154 )
I decided I wanted it slightly louder and Mike obliged.

I'm not going to bother uploading a video of me revving the pants off it as these recordings never get close to reproducing the actual sound. Suffice to say its got lovely pops and burbles when lifting off the gas plus a lovely raspy note when pushing on :driving:

oh alright - I will video it over the weekend. Might try to record it out and about too although the ones I've listened to are usually epic fails.
