The bottom rad hose was leaking so just replaced that, the aux belts, which looking at the date on them were original 2003, and whilst I had the coolant out, the water pump, which was in very good condition and assumed original.

Added sound deadening to both door skins and on the back of the door cards. Makes such a huge difference. Cheap @ £15 and simple to do

Everythings deep when your car tries to wade through it

I once done that down a country lane, but at speed, late at night. It ripped a heatshield off the underside. Had to drive home listening to a constant scraping noise

To be fair my suspension is collapsed...

I was actually expecting you to come to a shuddering halt, or would that have been me running out of petrol??
