Oh, my red camaro's engine bay
And the car itself
Took me 15 years to build it!
Now in a museum in Burnham on Sea.

Good god man - your wife's right
Immaculate work and impressed is not the right word - I'll take a look at your other sites.
Thinking of having a couple of white stripes on my M - that's about the limit of my ability and daring - you're in another Galaxy with this work. Like the way you chronicle it as well - I'm a bit the same over runs out (but not quite as much detail).
Makes me return to my youth - avidly reading Custom Car magazine in the 70s. All great stuff - always wanted a V8 Hot Rod - nearest I've been is a TVR Chimeara. . . . at least I've had a V8
Magic mate, magic

Ok, time to get my z4 back on the road.
Gonna tax it after the weekend for 6 months, but its MOT first......
Been sat in my workshop since september, so drove it out, washed it down, cleaned the hood and weather protected it with the AUTOGLYM kit I used initially.
Insurance through compare the meerkat at £174 so paid for that.
Quick trip round the block and all seems hunky dory. Softop motor noisier than before but first time I've used it since it was relocated into the boot. Kinda expected that.
Booked in for MOT at 12:30.
The emissions will be interesting to say the least. For all those that have followed, here's a recap.....
Bought in in jan 2016 and Po420 code came up after about 30 miles of motorway driving. cleared it, put scanner in graph mode and noticed the bank 1 CAT was not effective. Post CAT o2 sensor reading mirroring pre CAT one.
Put can of CATACLEAN in and Po420 only came on around town then.
Put another can in, and light disappeared altogether.
Did it bring the CAT back to life? Waveforms suggested so.
12:30 arrives, emission test (oh, on fuel that is now nearly 8 months old, and ........................
CO 0.01%
HC 22 ppm
Think thats a cure then!!! Definitely a resurrected CAT. But i knew that anyway.
Did it pass?...Of course!
Any advisories?.......No.
Oh, foglights not back on yet because front pass wing and front bumper/nosecone to be painted next week.
Z4 now back in my workshop waiting for me to tax it from next monday 1st April.
Drove beautifully.
Did 1800 miles in it from january 2016 to today (late april 2017). Thats 120 miles a month roughly. My wife says its just a toy!! I never drive it!
And she is of course correct
Andy.

No more plans for the z4, apart from fitting the gaptech module.
Time to drive it for a change.
Got to get my custom camaro finished before the end of the summer. Then the z4 must go.
American muscle rules for me!!
Any plans for yours?
Andy.

That's good to hear. You've already done a shed load anyway. Time to enjoy like you said
Oh yes, always lots of plans but I seem to keep adding stuff to the list and never ticking anything off!! In for MOT soon, so after that I'll start ticking a few bits off the list! Watch-this-space! I hope!

Spent a couple of hours reading this last night , I admire your skill and patience also glad you chose a 2 litre, I've bought one recently on here off 'cossie' - am made up with it !
Can identify with you over the teaching - my wife's a teacher / senco / assistant principal , hardly ever see her & when I do she's either planning lessons or marking books, wish she'd get out of it ! She's no good with cars tho !!
Keep up the good work & when I get a spare week I'll read up on the low rider blog.
Cheers Keith.

Ironic you should say that because......removed the front bumper and headlight (nearside) and stripped everything off the bumper for them both to be resprayed. Then spotted another job that needs doing.
The slam panel was showing signs of surface rust. Excuse the poor photo
Everything removed from the slam panel and back to bare metal
and in etch primer
Will spray it black tomorrow morning.
In the meantime, here is the poor thing ready for its trip to the bodyshop (10 metres away from me!!) Lol!
And the reason for the respray?
Lacquer lifting after a poor job in the past to the bumper and nearside wing.
Bumper
Top of wing
More photos from the bodyshop as work progresses.
Andy.
PS Then think it may be time to actually drive it...perhaps....

2 litres rule!!
Your Wife has my sympathy. I have 2 degrees, spent 34 years teaching maths in secondary schools and I can earn in less than 2 weeks what I earned in 4 weeks teaching. And working half the hours. Bloody disgrace.
And then the academies take over and increase the workload again.
I loved the job and honestly never planned to retire early. Kids were fantastic. Ended up working 18+ hours everyday.
Enjoy the lowrider blog.
Andy.

Sorry to hear about that surface rust!
Glad to see it's on it's way to almost-being driven! Shame about the weather today!

Finally been painted, BUT.........unfortunately the plastic undertray just in front of the left wheel in this photo has been smashed off, and is now in pieces
Sprayman says he will fix it, but no so sure. lets see what happens.
