EDIT: Helix suggested possibly getting info such as age, location, points, no claims etc, as this will have a bearing on the quotes. If you want to include this info that is great, but please let me know if you want to be anonymous or not

Just renewed today. Renewal was £340 with Tesco. Ran a gocompare.com search and 19 were cheaper and swiftcover would have been the cheapest by around £25 over anything else. Tesco price matched down to Privledge, the lowest they would bench to, at £249, so I stuck with them given I have lots of different policies with them and multiple user discounts on others.

Saved £90, no paperwork to fill in, mods declared, so happy :)

Sure pays to get a quick gocompare.com search and simply call in.

Hi everone got my quote from privilege £450. But do you know if you do it on the web site and ask for say a £250 excess that includes a compulsary say £500 which is not made clear. It seems that this is normal practise by them .I only found out when I rang to inform them of a change of car .I asked More Than for a quote surprise surprise only £314 with a compulsary excess of £600 which was made very clear .You can guess which one I went for .The Z is a 3.0SE :!: :!:

Yes that seems to be getting an ever more common 'trick' to take whatever excess you wish to have then add it onto a hidden base figure.

Having jumped ship and went over to Audi with the S3.....

Cheapest insurance was with Adrian Flux.

Prior to that I had the Z4 insured with Elephant for the past two or three years and found that they couldn't be matched at all.

Has anyone tried BMW's insurance?
I just got a quote from them, it's not the best but it's better than most.
I just got my renewal quote this morning from Elephant and it's about £400 more than I expected  Not that I expected to stay with them.

The BMW insurance says it has "Unlimited in car entertainment cover, for any manufacturer fitted equipment" I'm guess this is against theft, rather than any equipment failure....

I managed to knock off a few hundred form my renewal by getting elephant to price match. £400 is a lot but try it in case

Whos the youngest owner on here? Ive got a quote of £1350 for an 03 3.0 Z4, just wondering who the younger people are with as I cant seem to beat this or even get withing about £200 of it

I got a swiftcover as my cheapest quote, but the excess was £550 (£50 higher than my partners excess on the quote because I'm under 30 years old as far as I can tell, or maybe because I'm a man :P)
Next was Privelege at about £40 more, but the excess was £500.

I'll be getting some other quotes though, mainly ones that will guarantee using an approved repairer of your choice (ie BMW)... some of those repair threads worry me!

£733 for mine from Bell/Admiral - after a lot of phoning around.

38 year old male, no convictions, accidents, claims, 9 years NCD, parked on the street in Liverpool L25, business class 1 use plus normal SDP&C, £600 excess on claims, £70 excess on glass.

Sounds a lot, but when you compare it to the £880 I am paying for my e34 M5 (worth £5k) it puts it into perspective.

I'm glad I don't live in Liverpool, sounds like insurance is extortionate there :fuelfire:

Im glad I dont live there either :o

Ive just had to renew mine - £354, £250 excess through IAM Surety and Royal Sun Alliance. Car on my drive and business use - Im 34 :D

Chris Knott could only offer £380 with no personal accident cover and no personal effects cover - because it is a convertible :?

Just recently bought a 3.0si roadster. I'm almost 25, living in london. The best quote i got is £1,3500 from admiral! That's with either my mum or dad on as named drivers on the policy. Everyone else seems to be quoting me in excess of £2000..some even as high as 4k!!!!

Any advice guys?

Try giving Chris Knott a call:

Can't promise they will be a good match, but can't hurt to give them a call

Dont think i can give them a call mate..no previous experience of driving 'prestige' or 'fast' cars. My only previous car was a 1.0litre polo!!! :D

Hate the way insurance companies rip off younger drivers..

I'm 25 and drive a 3.0si sport coupe my insurance is £450 with 6yrs ncb and no named drivers. That's with Sainsburys.
