Sat Nav language

Post by RobertRO » Tue Dec 14, 2010 3:56 pm

The Sat Nav system in my newly purchased Z4 M Coupe came with Italian, German and French languages. No trace of English what-so-ever.
If I call it correctly, by "Sat Nav" I mean the pop-up in-dash display system with all its features (On-Board Computer, Settings, Navigation, etc.), and not only the Navigation feature of this system.

I searched the forum and managed to upgrade the software version of the system to v32. I expected that this upgrade would allow me to have English as a selectable language, but it didn't happen. I am still stuck with Italian, German and French.

Is there any trick to convince the Sat Nav system to speak English? Of course, other than visit the dealer and ask for this service?

It is not DVD related, but radio related (i.e. software version).

When I retrofitted the original satnav, I got the radio from the US and the very first time I installed it, I had the choice to set which languages I used from a huge list. You are never able to get back to that setting though.

The only option is to update the nav using software via plug into the bus.

Sat Nav language

I have same problem that was raised back in 2010.

I have just German and Polish languages available.
Wondering if a reset in the NAV system would bring the factory (or first use) settings back in order to choose new languages.
If yes, what kind of reset? Batery reset or any other way?

Thanks.

I have recently purchased a Japanese imported Zed, flip up screen was in Japanese, managed to change it to English within the settings using the radio buttons, also changed the radio frequencies from Japan to Europe, again using the radio buttons.
Sat Nav is a different story though, it is impossible to change this to a european version because the hardware is completely different for the Japanese Market.

if you have already installed v32 and try to install a new version of it, it wont update unless you downgrade or change the number to v32.1 etc. best downgrade to v29 the back to v32 to change the language

I already have V32 in my SAT NAV, but is a modded version and I wanted to install the stock one in order to change language and because I like to keep things original. :D

First attempt failed because I had already V32, software was already updated.
I followed mac27040 instructions and I installed a previous version (V30) and then installed the latest (V32 stock).
It worked. Took less than 10 mins.

Thank you!

Basically, you just need to provide o different version of the one that is installed.
Otherwise, it will not update.
