Rough cost for swapping springs?

Post by thecremeegg » Fri Dec 08, 2017 2:20 pm

Got some eibachs for Christmas so want to know a rough cost I should be looking at for a swap? I normally do stuff like this myself but my back is bad at the moment.

Just want to know if I'm looking at £100 or £300…

Cheers

Couple of hours work i would have thought so depends on the rates the place you go use but I would guess £100 - £150

If you're lowering, then factor in a wheel alignment as well

So as an update to this, anyone got a recommendation for a garage in Surrey/Hampshire? My usual garage won't do it as they can't do an alignment on it which they won't allow!

Thanks

TWG Automotive, BMS Surrey, Munich Power Redhill.

TWG are the only ones who do alignment but both others would fit and let you take elsewhere for alignment :)

Motech quoted £200 for fitting.

Could probably get it cheaper elsewhere though.

I thought an alignment isn’t needed after installing the Eibachs as they’re pre-set springs?

Nope 100% required, you are dropping the ride height thus changing the geometry of the car, if the car was in spec before lowering then it wont be too far out but it wont be optimum settings etc.

I thought this was the case. I wonder why Motech are adamant that cars don’t need an alignment after Eibach installation... :tumbleweed:

Not sure, maybe they don't offer alignment? or maybe they say you don't need it for it to drive only to fine tune the settings. Not sure exactly but I do know it moves the geometry.

I have eibachs on mine and after lowering, you could physically see the enhanced rear camber alone.

You definitely need a wheel alignment after fitting eibachs, unless you enjoy wearing tyres out very very quickly.

I recently asked my local Indy the labour cost to change all 4 corners, springs and shocks, he quoted 360
