Throttle Body

Post by MT94 » Sun Oct 08, 2017 6:43 pm

Hi all
I will be taking my throttle body off in the near future in order to change my CCV valve has anyone had any experience in cleaning the throttle body I have read some horror stories with people breaking it while cleaning and having to relearn the throttle body to the car, has anyone had any issues as I want to clean it while it out may as well really, but at the same time I don’t want to break it.

Throttle Body

I removed my throttle body recently whilst replacing my CCV. Cleaned it inside and out with petrol and a clean cloth. Mine was fine after. I think you'd have to drop it to seriously damage it. Make sure to fit a new gasket.

You can get new gaskets at bmw:
http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E85/E ... ssy/#pos_2

part# 13547504728

But usually the gasket is still ok. They use viton gaskets and dont age that much; at least thats my opinion and I had my TB off countless times.
Obviously it wont hurt fitting a new gasket :)

There is no 're-learning the throttle body'
