Autosmart "Smart Wheels" cleaner..

Post by Ducklakeview » Thu Sep 21, 2017 9:11 pm

Picked some of this up yesterday. I normally use Wonder Wheels, and have for years. Thats normally about £12 @ Costco, but they had none. Won't be using WW again, as this stuff is EPIC!

Was £13+ vat for 5L, BUT they recommend diluting 6:1 with water..

Filled the sprayer and doused the wheels and calipers, which were both manky. Indeed the calipers have been pretty much black for months now with brake dust, and the WW hasn't touched it, so much so that I was envisaging having to repaint them.. Not any more!

Left this stuff to foam for 5 mins whilst I got the Karcher out, didn't bother brushing as I couldn't find my wheel brush (I need to tidy my garage) so I just blasted with water..

WOW....

I am impressed!

Highly recommended from me, and cheap as cheap due to the dilution..

I'd go easy with that stuff - Sodium Hydroxide is highly caustic and will apparently react nicely with bare aluminium so best not have kerbing damage to your wheels before you start!

Could be handy if you ever have a blocked drain or any dead bodies to dispose of though.....

Incidentally, I've been using a product called Viro-sol for a number of years for wheel cleaning. It's a citrus based industrial degreaser and like the Smart Wheels stuff you can buy it in 5l cans (less than a tenner) and dilute it down.

I'd be careful with that too.

My go to wheel cleaner is bilthamber auto wheel. Not cheap but you don't need much for a good result.

Lol.. It's diluted 6:1.. If it damages them there will be hell to pay..
