Audi SQ7.. BLOODY HELL!!

Post by Ducklakeview » Thu Oct 19, 2017 11:51 pm

So my good friend and neighbour picked up his new SQ7 earlier..

Just been for a test drive, and OH MY GOD!

The thing is insane! It literally whallops you back into the seat when you hit the loud pedal AT ANY SPEED!

900nm of torque available from 1000rpm and 4 30 bhp from a 4.0 litre DIESEL... Mind you it has two turbos and an electric "supercharger" that runs from 48v electrics and will go from 0 to 70,000 rpm in milliseconds..

Corners like a bloody sports car too as it has active anti roll bars, ride is also very good even on 20" rims..

I am SERIOUSLY impressed, mind you at a list price with the options of £82k, I would expect to be.. The lease payments are circa £740+vat a month..

Hmm.. That's A LOT of a car for £29 a day...

Lovely motor!

Mike

I thought it would be a lard @rse on the twisties, but apparently the anti roll bars each have their own electric motor running on the 48v system and each have their own "cvt" type gearbox. Apparently in a straight line they are actually de-coupled from the body to give a limo ride, but due to the 48v system can be reconnected in milliseconds if needed.

It certainly works well afaic.

Sounds amazing.
We have a q5 old shape. And I am very impressed by that. 2.0 turbo diesel 400nm it’s not fast (well dose not feel fast) but it gets going and is probably faster than many older car cars that wher precived fast. And it feels good in corners but you can tell it’s a tall car.

The sq7 sounds really amazing. Most people don’t like Audi hear I admit I wasn’t there biggest fan. But they do build a bloody good car.
My little blue zed is in lots of bits. With lots of things started and not many finished! I may have found the limits of my time and ability!!

My director has just bought one of these, upgrading from a 2006 RS4 he's had since new. It does feel very quick when you're in the car due to the pull of all that torque and the seats are the nuts :D

A close friend has one too and they’re seriously impressive cross country and when cruising. The mechanicals and technology are so complex though, imagine 10 years down the line when stuff starts to go wrong........gulp! Great fun whilst they’re new and still under warranty though!
