That's what I'm struggling with to be honest. I smile everytime I slam the throttle down, hear the pops and bangs after I ease off, power through a bend and feel the butt twitch on the way out. I have a track car, so the Z gets b-road and poser duties mainly.Beedub wrote:Had some lovely seat time in my z4m after a long feeling winter.....
honestly you can't but help smile really... big engine, small car, long bonnet, RWD, nice steering, sitting on those rear wheels.... i just can't help but think these things are going to rocket in value...
Im winding this car out over a wideish back road and it just feels nuts, the way the car covers ground, sounds and more importantly feels is so special, these new model Caymans , boxsters have this feel however imo. You do have to ask yourself is it worth putting like 50k ontop of your z4m for essentially the same "feel" honestly no ( GT4 / GTS pricing) .... if money was no object then hell yes but for ALOT of us that aren't jonny essex ( a billionaire didn't you know) i think the z4m still has so much to offer, with some changes they are right up their in terms of out and out performance...
Still can't get the Gt4 out my mind...... I really need to go get the CGTS and do a proper review, maybe even video it and post it up.. Been a busy few weeks as work has been busy ...
If you really want the best from your z4m change the suspension for a top level kit, have it setup professionally, look at upping the power and i think you'll always be satisfied, you'll always have your head turned, but you'll always be satisfied by your ///M car, they got so much right but their are flaws that need tweaking to get the best of it, sadly this isn't a cheap exercise either!
I've bought a supercharger, sold a supercharger, regretted selling a supercharger, tried to sell the car, realized I didn't want to sell the car - pretty much constantly for the last two years The cash isn't the big issue, I think above all I'm worried about spending a wad of cash on the Z4M and then at the end of the day still thinking ''It drives perfectly, but I wish it was a porsche/ferrari/aston" rediculous I know.. Although at the same time as far as the porsche and beem are concerned I have a v8 itch that only a 360 or vantage can scratch too. I've decided that my next car is pretty much going to be a lifer/v long term if not the Z and the GT4 is the only new car that I can afford (don't get me wrong, an aventador would do just fine!) where I've been able to tick all the boxes that the Z4M has ticked for me yet still feel like a step forwards. I can't think of a single other car that does this for me on a personal level (looks, performance, sound, equipment, the way it handles, wow factor/exclusivity (I don't know how many looks they get in the UK but out of the 17.6million cars on the road here, just 76 of them are Z4M roadsters - and apparantly just 9 of them are silver grey Z4M roadsters. I like this.) etc)
I think another thing is that the newer porsches just feel/look that little bit more up to date. I love the elegant lines of the Z and the simplicity of the interior and I think new seats and a new steering wheel would remedy that to be honest (have seen a few carbon/alcantara re-trimmed models with a flat bottom that would go a treat). I have also thought of the idea of an android based double din/tablet for that reason - but I can't justify it when it's got the top spec unit in there.
The cash isn't the big issue, but I think above all I'm worried about spending a wad of cash on the Z4M and then at the end of the day still thinking ''It drives perfectly, looks stunning, but I still wish it was a porsche/ferrari/aston" Which is why I've also not been able to shake the want to trade in for a 2009 PDK boxed Cayman S lately. Ridiculous I know.. I guess the GT4 has all the factors that make the Z4M the car I love, polishes them a bit, and adds that un-quantifiable, illogical allure of having a supercar badge on the bonet. I feel like a man a few years into a marriage who's trying to decide if to run away with a supermodel. She'll do much the same things, but you'll feel a little nicer standing next to her in public
