Anyone used Motamec Cordless Mini Polisher?

Post by sharpyboy » Fri Mar 31, 2017 1:09 pm

As per the title I have been considering buying the Motamec Cordless Mini Polisher as I need cordless as I live in a flat with no garage with electrical outlets just a covered parking space. I think it costs about £140 and if anyone knows of a better cordless one for the same price or less i'd be interested on your opinion.

nope sharpy. looks ok tho.
I has bin using elbow grease and a drill attachment   buffing ball on low speed for polish/waxing shennannigans and reckon that works just as good as any DA or such....

I was thinking about using a drill attachment but have heard stories of burning the paintwork if you get carried away but I might try it first before paying out, thanks Chris.

I have a diy sander like this http://www.diy.com/departments/mac-alli ... SB_PT_DG11

Works perfectly, just as the more expensive DA car polishers do, but they do tend to have a smaller orbit than the detailing machines (=slower polishing)

Personally, I would opt for the Meguairs DA power system coupled with a decent Li-on drill with two batteries. That way you can have use of a good drill + the DA polisher when you need it

Only limitation here will be the speed, which seems to be around 2k rpm max for Li-On drills and would limit the results you could achieve. One point on that Motamec Cordless Mini Polisher, 2.0Ah battery will get depleted very quickly and you might not be able to finish the car in one charge so it might be worth grabbing an additional battery if you can so you can charge one whilst you polish.

coupled with either http://www.screwfix.com/p/bosch-gsr-18- ... iver/7549p or http://www.screwfix.com/p/makita-dhp453 ... rill/2290j

I ended up ordering this one after more investigation https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231481205678 I have not received it yet but I will update when I have used it. Checked the reviews on you tube and it is very well liked even by professional retailers. Thanks for all your input and feedback.
