Poorboys black hole or ssr 3?

Post by sharpyboy » Thu Jan 26, 2017 12:00 am

Hi guys I want to reduce the paint swirls on my jet black z4 and have been told about Poorboys black hole glaze or ssr 3 is what I need. Anyone used these products or know any better ones? Also do you know if you can wax over them or seal to make the shine last longer.

Thanks

SSR3 is a compound only for removing swirl marks. SSR = Super Swirl Remover. There are 4 grades : SSR1, SSR2, SSR2.5 and SSR3 with 1 being the finest and 3 the heaviest. All work superbly either by hand or better with a DA machine. The grades required would depend on the condition of your paintwork. Black Hole is a cosmetic filler glaze which can be used after the SSR or on its own if your swirls are light. You can then use a sealant and/or wax on top to finish off such as Poorboys EX-P Sealant or Poorboys Nattys Black Paste Wax. I really like Poorboys products and have most of these in my 'armoury'

Good advice above.

Next time I am going for Poorboys' products to compare with Turltle Wax Black Box which I have used for many years and does a good job.

The best filler glaze for black cars I have used is 50 cal show filler glaze

Better than black hole and easier to apply/ remove

I agree, but the best all round (technically an All In One) is AutoFinesse Triple.

Black hole is amazing on dark colours! Notably Sapphire black & monaco blue from experience :D (not bothered with it on the titan silver z4 as it wouldnt be much use on light colours)

this is my old coupe after a go over with black hole

I also have 50cal Filler Glaze in my cupboard and have to say that on my black LandRover and Sterling Grey Zed the Poorboys Blackhole gives much better results and always find it extremely easy to apply and remove.
I wasn't that impressed with 50cal Pentawax either so melted it down and mixed it 50:50 with some old AG HD Wax I had left over which has made a superb wax that I am currently using up on my Zed.

Weird aint it...

I find the Poorboys id a good glaze, but can be "chalky" on removal, and sometimes a little patchy...

That said,i have only ever put 50 cal on with a DA and soft pad,i find it covers and removes super easily....

I have a pentawax sample, never tried it to be honest. I have pots and pots of wax that i need to get through first...lol..

Also been experimenting recently with Bouncers bead juice, jury is still out at the moment..

Had some bought for me at xmas & if id tried it without labels id have laid a weeks wages it was a slightly denser Autosmart Topaz :? identical colour/ zero smell ( strangely for Autofinesse it had no fruity aroma which is usually their trademark ) & performed identical too :?
I should add i'm only playing at detailing & perhaps the minuscule differences were lost on me

How did anyone actually manage to buy Poorboys' products?

Their website is the maddest thing I have seen since I read a mad article about mad things!

I wasn't that I,pressed with black hole and think that a lot of the poorboys stuff is a bit overrated. That said maybe I am doing it wrong. :)

50 cal quick detailer is a brilliant product but I haven't as yet see any of their other products.
