So as a new owner here is my mini-write up after owning this car for 11 hours now ....

I have some experience with BMW's having owned them for the past 8 years. In terms of the more tasty stuff I have owned an E39 M5 and currently have an E60 M5. In terms of "Z" cars I had a 2.8i a few years back.

None of that really prepared me for this car at all - this is awesome. By far the best car I have ever driven. The looks are great - love the colour. Interior is immaculate - never seen leather in this condition on a car this age. Almost like new despite someones arse sitting in it for 75,000 miles. Roof operation is great - so quick - and much better than the Z3 where you had to pull two handles to lock it down. Acceleration is electric and the noise is awesome - low revs noise is great then high revs my god .... you have to tell yourself to keep revving it. Love the fact that its quite basic - manual gearbox, hydraulic steering - no flappy paddles or a million different settings on i-drive: just pure roadster fun. Handling very sure (last owner looked after suspension).

Things I want to do now:

- Professional detailing - paint is very good but has imperfections: its a UK car so I guess rarely immaculately clean in the blazing sun.
- Drivers door pull - silver cover piece on handle loose at the bottom - any advice on this appreciated
- BMW round turn signal things on the wings are a bit loose - again, any advice appreciated
- DRIVE IT!!!!!!

What a car

Welcome- great car history and a lovely z! The side markers twist to take on or off but if the badges are loose rather than the whole thing then I think glue may be needed.

Just read your opinion for the Z4m roadster and as a newbie too I must agree! Nice looking car.. I've just last week got more or less the an identical example!
Have had mine one week today and again have owned a variety of performance cars, (v8 Vantage, m3 e90, 996 C4S and many more. The Z4m puts a smile on my face every journey like no car before! Just so zoned in and back to the roots of driving! Congrats on a lovely car

Hi coop88 - good to join same time as another new Z4M owner!! Today I got up and just went straight out in it before it got too hot - smiling ear to ear!!

Incidentally one thing I learned already is how to do throttle adaption reset - key in and pos 2 for 10 secs, off 10 secs, on again 10 secs then start. Resets the throttle computer (I think thats the terminology) so it relearns again. Made noticeable difference and got rid of a little hesitation from idle so you might want to do that, since its free and involves no spannering at all!

Any photos of the E34? I love that shape - had an old 12v 520i one of the first of the E34's years ago - gutless, scruffy, high miler but loved it to bits and used it as a daily for a few years. Nothing compared to your 3.5 litre Alpina obviously but I still regret selling that.

Ha, I just popped back onto the forum to see what people were saying about the new Z4 concept (I love it), didn't for one moment think I'd see a thread of my old Z4M popping up in Spain. I owned it for 2 1/2 years, sold it in Jan 16.

Does it still have the aero skirts? Can't quite make it out.

Hope it's as good to you as it was to me...

Thanks for the pointer.. likely worth doing so it gets used to my style of driving as appose to the previous owner?
Thinking to get the hood programmed to open from remote asap, possibly CSL wheels at some stage or just get the originals refurbed and slightly darker 👍🏻 Yea I'll try stick some pics up now
