Newbie saying hello
Evening all,
Just signed up on here, as I'm looking to scratch a longstanding E85 'roadster' itch lol.
Whilst new to the world of Z's, I've had a few BMWs over recent years; starting at 21 in the form of a 4 pot E46 318Ci (and still own lol); to an E36 M3 GT; and currently an E46 M3 CSL.
Not quite sure yet which Z4 spec to go for, but in the mean time I'm hoping to broaden my knowledge from the wealth of info on here, before finding the right car hopefully.
Cheers,
Sanj

Welcome to the madhouse OP.
You should find plenty of useful information on here if you make extensive use of the Search facility!
All models have their strengths, and even some weaknesses, but you really need to weight it all up and decide which one is right for you.
If your choice comes down to a couple of different models sometimes posting a question will get some useful feedback from owners, especially from those who have owned several Z4s. But if you're still not sure driving each alternative should help you decide.
Good luck with your research, then good luck with your search.
Just don't forget that once you have bought one, photos are absolutely essential on this forum.

Cheers lads
Narrowed it down to a pre-facelift 3.0i, just weighing up the essential/desirable options. Are heated seats really worth holding out for?

Can't really help you with your heated seats question as I've only had Coupes, and I only used them a few times on my first one (but neither has been a daily driver).
It may depend a bit on how you plan to use it - I should imagine they might be handy for early Spring or late Autumn roof down action!
I would definitely look for Sport seats though - they are such a better shape.
Xenons are also well worth looking out for - standard Z4 headlights aren't great!
If you set your heart on Sport seats or Xenons it's probably best to look for a car that already has them as even used those bits are expensive!
Some bits shouldn't put you off though - for example if you want Cruise you only need to buy the stalk because pre-facelifts are pre-wired for it (unlike facelifts).
I'm sure someone will be along soon with a bit more advice, and hopefully an answer to your original question!

Welcome to the forum, there a quite a few owners in and around London, so you may be able to meet a couple and get a better feeling for the cars. What sort of budget do you have? what engine do you want? manual or auto?
This is a great forum for info and advce,we have plenty of meets around the country, if/when you do get a Z4, as has been mentioned..we like photos.
Good luck with the search
