Hi Guys, looking for some help please. Got a bmw z4 3.0 53 plate. Lovely car but few little issues I'm trying to sort out. One that is annoying me is regarding the strut brace. For some reason, when i bought it there was only 1 strut brace. There seems to be a little bracket holding the strut brace to the strut tower i believe its called, and this has snapped off. can you by one of these? has this happened to anyone else and how did you get around it?
Many thanks in advance
shane.

BMW Z4 3.0 strut brace
Thats a pretty serious problem because the bmw workshop manual says that the car cant be driven without those strut braces due to lesser structural integrity.
It happens but not very common.

There is a bullitin on this subject so it is a known problem at bmw:

You can get the little bracket from BMW:
http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E85/E ... eft/#pos_5
(part 5 in the diagram, and you need the corresponding bolt as this is a bolt style and not nut style)
But it obviously involves welding it to the strut tower and rustproofing it (also the welds from within the wheelwell).
What you also can do is to get a strut brace from Ultra Racing (which is fairly cheap as far as strut braces go):
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ultra-Racing- ... 1104256242
It is afaik the only true 3 point strut brace for the z4 and doesnt use those small brackets.
It does however require to relocate the bonnet switch from the alarm (or delete that switch alltogheter, you can just remove it without programming or such). You can alter the original bonnetswitchbracket to mount it to the chassis/earth stud next to the ecu box or alter it so that it's situated just in front of the strutbar (lots of possibilities really)

BMW Z4 3.0 strut brace
Hi, Thank you very much for the above. I cant fault the information. I have rung BMW and asked if they supply the part and they can find it but have no part numbers. I clicked the link, it said that factory discontinued it.
I have seen that brace, but didn't really want to spend the money out, if I have to I will.
Shane.

Its partnumber 41007193040 (we're talking about the same thing arent we? #5 in that diagram), and that part is not discontinued I think?
If I look at the dutch dealership parts portal its still on stock, and also with leebmann (large german bmw parts supplier) its still on stock:
https://www.leebmann24.de/aufnahme-doms ... 93040.html
So I suspect your dealership is making a mistake. I cant imagine it being sold in germany&the netherlands and not being sold in the UK
But like I wrote that part is a little bit different from the part you have: your bracket has a stud on which you put a nut; this bracket has a threaded hole for which you need a bolt. Its an improved part (see the link to the bulletin in my previous post)
