So I bought an 03 BMW Z4 3.0si, and since I got it the eps light more commonly pops up. This problem is when I start the vehicle the steering wheel is extremely hard to turn but after 2-3 minutes it feels normal again, the light will still be on but no issues after that. Sometimes (rarely) it won’t turn on -usually on a cold start. But till this day I can’t find a solution. Any suggestions?

Torque sensor in the column or the EPS motor. There are some good posts on here about stripping down the column.
