Z4 3.0si New Owner

Post by b19rak » Thu Nov 23, 2017 11:18 am

After scouring the classifieds here, i turned to the Z4 Facebook group and was offered this beauty.

It's an 07' 99k with extended leather option. Other options i can see so far are Zenons, cruise, cupholders. Feel free to tell me anything i've missed from the pictures. Stereo has been upgraded to an Alpine headunit with DAB that works well and sounds really good. I'm surprised as the business speakers are usually very poor. These may have been upgraded.

Car has had a full suspension refresh in 2015 including Eibach springs, control aarms and polly flex bushes. Brand new non RF tyres all round as well.

First job is to get the ZHP gear knob. Is it an easy pull off push on?

Also does anyone have the link to see what extras my car has?

Well done - extended leather is rare, nice two tone interior and you have electric heated M sports seats too
The Gear knob is a straight pull off - try not to break your face though :)

Your Coupe looks fantastic OP, especially those seats!

Good choice with the ZHP - I much prefer it to the standard part.

It looks like you may also have rear parking sensors and the Multi-Function Steering Wheel which were both options.

Here's a link so you can get the build spec.

Like the seat combo too, pity it didn't have a proper aerial on the spec sheet

Thanks for the link. I've done a check. No surprises!

I've got the business cd from factory which now has an Alpine head unit with DAB. I thought the Business HiFi only had 6 speakers. I've just had a look and it looks like i've got two 6.5" (not 100%) in the footwell, two in the door, two tweeters (wing mirrors) and two small ones behind me. Is that normal?

There were 2 upgrade options for the stereo, one was "HiFi Speaker System" with 10 speakers (so it looks like there may be 2 you haven't found yet  ) for £500 and the other was "HiFi System Professional" with a 430 watt amplifier, 7 band equaliser and 10 speakers for £710!

But if you car had either of those it should show on the VIN checker, unless someone retro-fitted them!

I definitely got business cd speakers according to Vin checker. It sounds pretty good and I'm assuming the alpine head unit has something to follow with it. I'm wondering if the previous owner has also upgraded to component speakers. I have the standard setup in previous cars send it is really poor.

My first Coupe had the HiFi speaker system with 10 speakers, and it was really good - especially the bass!

But my current one has the basic 6-speaker Business one - it isn't great, but then I can hear my exhaust better and the Business system is far better in the Z4 than the same set-up in my E46! I suppose it helps having a samller cabin.

Have you checked that there are actual speakers in the lower door as the face plates are there, but the speakers were not in the standard 6 set up

The telltale sign is the sub's fitted behind the seats. If you have cubby holes there instead then you only have the 6 speaker business audio (the 4" ones in the front doors are just covers - no speakers behind).
