Newbie here - better late than never

Post by Cooky3 » Mon Oct 02, 2017 8:30 pm

Hi all. Thought I should follow etiquette and post a hello.

This is my first Z4 but have run lots of other Beemers over the years. Decided to finally sell my Ford Capri which I have enjoyed for the last six years having had an itch for another fun convertible... Still running my Triumph Street Triple 765 RS too though for solo thrills...

Bought a Z4 2.5Si, 2006, silver grey with 59,000 miles. Paid decent money - has had all the usual roof motor and WP work done... From a fellow forum member who I built some good rapport with... However, have the worlds earliest problem with a new to me car - first time for everything! Another story so check out Timing Chain Issues in the sob story section... Not my intended first post of course. :headbang:

That's also my excuse for not posting a pic as yet - the car has spent more time away with others than with me!

Hope to get some advice, help, recommendations from you helpful people and also meet some of you in due course...

Best regards to all. :driving:

Hi gents. Always dreamed of owning a Capri since working as a part timer age 14 and my boss bought a RS3100... Then did an incredibly short stint at a Ford dealership in 1987 and walked into the showroom to catch my first glimpse of a 280 Brooklands... Rick Astley was playing on the radio (Never gonna give you up ironically...).

Don't do shows anymore as too busy. Don't go out in it and leave it in a car park because some dipstick will either hit it or intentionally damage it and all said, it's a 33 year old car so requires a bit of respect... Hard decision but ultimately right to let it go.

Just need to work out where to host my pic's to display here. They are all on my laptop :headbang:

Beauty, I had a MK2 Capri 1.6GL back in the day, I would love another if the prices weren't so high for a good one.

Yeah, as with a lot of classic Fords, going for silly prices now...

Mine had the Turbo Technics F16 Evolution conversion done in '86.... Will regret selling it I am sure but that's life!

Fortunately I have a Z4 to keep me smiling - soon!

Hi chaps. Thanks for the interest in the Capri... That sale regret might be starting already ha ha.... :|

I enjoyed owning it. Funny enough, my two daughters looked at me like I was some kind of nutter when I showed them what I had bought. First trip out they were very embarrassed by the attention we got. By the second or third trip they only ever wanted to go out in the Capri...!

My eldest attended the first magazine shoot I did with the car - Retro Ford from memory.

But my youngest is bound to fall in love with the Z4 - especially as my eldest has just gone to uni leaving us to enjoy the two seats without argument! :driving:

Hi Cooky3 - I hope you can get your Z4 sorted soon.

Oh but those photos of your Capri!

I bought my first 2.8i in 1985 (Strato Silver), but it had to be sold for a deposit on my first house. :(

So a few years later I managed to find another in Caspian Blue over Strato Silver - I loved those cars!

Then strangely enough about a week ago my mate told me he had just bought an XR4i - I need to go and see that!
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black
