Hello all, I'm about to become a Z4 owner on Sunday, can't wait. A nice 2006 2.0i waiting for me to pick up in black with black alloys :D One quick question please. Is it worth purchasing a wind deflector and if so, which is best. Many thanks to all who answer and once again, Hi to the forum.

Hi and welcome. I hope the time until Sunday will pass quickly for you.

In my opinion a wind deflector is a must - they reduce wind to the point that you can hold a conversation with your passenger/hear the radio at motorway speeds.

The best are the ones that clip between the roll hoops. You need a fitting kit as well as the deflectior itself. Mine is a "gimp-style" mesh one that goes over the roll hoops.

There are mixed reviews on here about the Perspex ones. The balance of opinion is that the mesh ones let enough wind through them, whilst wit the Perspex ones the wind goes around them and comes back round the side.

Remember that a camera and pic posting is a priority for Sunday!

Enjoy :driving:

Hi, yeah wind deflector is a must, makes a big difference. I got a gimp mask one given with my car but I think they look silly so I bought a Perspex one and it's great. Had to put some rubber pads on the back to stop it rubbing against the hoops and squeaking but apart from that it's worth every penny

Hi OP and welcome to the forum!

My Z4 has a wind deflector, but it's sometimes referred to as a "roof"! Deflects a lot of wind though!

Hope the collection goes smoothly.

I have the OEM black mesh - whilst it does look good and of course OEM , for me , it does restrict the vision when looking in the rear view mirror particularly when you're wearing shades - but then it might just be me :( Quite impressed with the clear ones that seem to have come on the market recently although I've not actually seen one first hand. The downside is the OEM ones are not cheap !

Welcome - looking forward to pics of your Z4
+1 for the OEM mesh wind deflector. I seldom take mine off as it cuts down wind noise and buffeting.

Nice one! Let us see some pictures once you have it.

I have the OEM wind deflector which works well and it stays in all the time, even when the roof is up. :)

Welcome to the forum, looking forward to seeing pics of your Zed on Sunday. I have a OEM Mesh clip in wind deflector with the plastic hoop inserts and would recommend it.
